Burpees and the brain
In an article published by the CrossFit Journal, Chris Cooper & Dr. John Ratey investigate the positive benefits of CrossFit and the brain. More and more schools are implementing CrossFit exercise programs during recess and P.E. classes. In both adults and children, actively moving "secretes a neurotropin called brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), which helps neural connections stronger."
Doing a simple exercise like a burpee activates the cerebellum which is responsible for balance. The same cerebellum is integral in our leaning skills like "memory, learning, social skills, emotions, and attention" span.
